In First Ministers Questions this week Mr Black asked what discussions the government have had with Linamar to ensure the future of the plant, and whether an Assembly grant offered in 2006 was still on the table. He also raised the disgraceful way that Linamar have sacked trade union convenor Rob Williams in contravention of employment law.
Commenting on the situation at Linamar Mr. Black said: "I am personally very disturbed that a Trade Union Convenor can be sacked in this way for doing his job and am concerned at why Linamar want him out of the way.
"It seems to me that their motives in this can only be that they have plans to restructure the plant and that they want to remove anybody who might seek to delay that process by speaking up for the rights of the workers.
"I understand that these are difficult times but Linamar should work with the workforce to secure the future of this plant, not against them and the Welsh Assembly Government should be proactive in that process as well."
